Junior Software Developer
Job Description
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Software Developer to join our dynamic technology team. The ideal candidate will have a robust knowledge of Python programming and a willingness to learn and grow in areas such as Django development, Azure Cloud Functions, and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your skills while working on meaningful projects in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Your Impact
- Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable cloud-based applications using Python under the guidance of senior developers.
- Support the development and maintenance of EDI processes to ensure seamless data exchange between systems.
- Communicate with external business and technical partners to design and implement new EDI integrations.
- Read and interpret technical documentation and implementation guides to support integration and troubleshooting efforts.
- Collaborate with team members to analyze requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Learn to implement and maintain secure, efficient, and reusable code for data parsing, integration, and manipulation.
- Help debug and troubleshoot technical issues while optimizing the performance of applications.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines throughout development.
- Participate in code reviews and actively seek feedback to improve coding skills.
- Work with cross-functional teams to support application deployment and monitoring.
- Stay curious and proactive in learning new technologies and development trends.
Essential Skills and Qualifications We Value
- Knowledge of EDI X12 standards.
- Some exposure to Microsoft Azure or similar cloud platforms.
- Experience working in team-based development environments or Agile methodologies.
- Experience developing web applications using Django or similar Python web frameworks.
- Basic experience in Python programming, gained through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
- Familiarity with web-based frameworks such as Django or Flask.
- A firm understanding of JSON and XML formats and integrating them within applications.
- Comfort with writing and optimizing queries using SQL.
- Understanding of RESTful and SOAP API design and concepts.
- Familiarity with common data transfer protocols, such as SFTP (AS2 knowledge a plus).
- Foundational knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming and a comprehension of Functional Programming concepts.
- Understanding of data integrity principles, including accurate data handling, validation, and consistency across systems.
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git (basic knowledge).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- 1 year experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
